- App: The Tilawat-e-Quran mobile application provided by Us, downloaded by you on any
electronic device.
- Company: Tilawat-e-Quran, operated by Dkatia, based in Kochi, Kerala, India.

behalf to facilitate or analyze the App’s usage.

and manage your Account, contact you, and personalize your experience.
- User-Generated Content: Content you create, such as audio recordings of Quran
recitations, study notes, assignments, syllabus uploads, and community posts. This may include your
voice, images, or other identifiable information embedded in the content.
- Profile Information: Optional details you provide, such as a profile picture or bio, to
enhance your community presence.
Data Collected with Permission
We may collect the following data with your explicit permission, which you can manage through your Device
settings:
- Camera: To record video recitations and take photos for profiles or community sharing.
- Photo Library: To upload study notes, assignments, syllabus, and select images for
posts, such as sharing a study resource.
- Microphone: To record audio for chats and announcements, like a recitation for an
event.
- Location: To show nearby Quran study groups or events, if you enable this feature.
- Contacts: To help you share recordings or announcements with friends, if you enable
this feature.
Usage Data
We automatically collect Usage Data when you use the App, including:
- Device Information: IP address, device ID, operating system, browser type, and mobile
network information.
- App Interaction Data: Pages visited, features used (e.g., recording, posting), time and
date of visits, and session duration.
- Diagnostic Data: Crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics to improve App
stability.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
While the App itself does not use cookies, we may use similar tracking technologies (e.g., device
identifiers, analytics SDKs) to collect Usage Data and improve your experience. You can manage tracking
preferences through your Device settings, such as disabling analytics or limiting ad tracking.
3. Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
We process your data based on the following legal grounds:
- Consent: For permissions like camera, microphone, and location, we rely on your
explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time via Device settings.
- Contractual Necessity: To provide core App features, such as managing your Account and
enabling user-generated content sharing.
- Legitimate Interests: For purposes like improving the App, analyzing usage trends, and
ensuring community safety through content moderation.
- Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws, such as responding to legal requests
or reporting illegal activities.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Provide and Maintain the App: To deliver features like Quran recitation, study tools,
announcements, and community engagement.
- Manage Your Account: To enable registration, authentication, and access to personalized
features.
- Facilitate Community Interaction: To display your user-generated content (e.g., posts,
recordings) to other users as part of the App’s social features.
- Content Moderation: To monitor user-generated content for compliance with our End User
License Agreement (EULA) and zero-tolerance policy on objectionable content and abusive behavior.
- Communicate with You: To send updates, security alerts, responses to your requests, or
community notifications via email, SMS, or push notifications.
- Improve the App: To analyze usage trends, diagnose technical issues, and enhance
functionality and user experience.
- Personalize Your Experience: To offer tailored content, such as nearby study groups (if
location is enabled) or recommended community posts.
- Ensure Safety and Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents,
such as identifying spam or malicious activity.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal requests,
including reporting illegal content to authorities.
- Research and Development: To conduct internal research, develop new features, and
improve our services, ensuring data is anonymized where possible.
5. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information in the following situations:
- With Service Providers: To facilitate App functionality, such as:
- Cloud storage providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud) to store user-generated
content like recordings and notes.
- Analytics providers (e.g., Firebase Analytics) to monitor usage and improve the App.
- Communication providers (e.g., Twilio) to send notifications or emails.
- Within the App Community: Your user-generated content (e.g., posts, announcements) and
profile information (e.g., username, profile picture) may be visible to other users as part of the App’s

data may be transferred as part of the transaction.
- With Law Enforcement: To comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, or respond

6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy
Policy, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Specific retention periods include:
- Account Information: Retained while your Account is active and for up to 6 months after
deletion to comply with legal requirements or handle disputes.
- User-Generated Content: Retained until you delete it or your Account is terminated.
Deleted content may remain in backups for up to 30 days before permanent removal.
- Usage Data: Retained for analytics purposes for up to 12 months, after which it is
anonymized or deleted.
- Moderation Logs: Logs of reported content and moderation actions are retained for 2
years to ensure compliance with our EULA and legal obligations.
When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it using industry-standard methods. For

7. Your Privacy Rights
You have the following rights regarding your Personal Data, in accordance with applicable laws like the
Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India):
- Access: Request a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you, including your Account
details and user-generated content.
- Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete data, such as updating your
email or name.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your Personal Data or Account. You can delete your
Account directly in the App under "Profile > About App > Remove Account." For more details, see our

Deleted data may remain in backups for up to 30 days.
- Opt-Out: Opt out of non-essential communications, such as promotional emails or push
notifications, by adjusting your settings in the App or contacting us.
- Withdraw Consent: Disable permissions (e.g., location, camera, microphone) at any time
through your Device settings.
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your Personal Data in a structured, commonly used
format, where technically feasible.
- Restrict Processing: Request that we limit the processing of your data in certain
circumstances, such as during a dispute over data accuracy.

8. Security of Your Data

- Regular Updates: We regularly update the App and our systems to address
vulnerabilities.
Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you suspect unauthorized
access to your Account, please contact us immediately.
9. Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach that may compromise your Personal Data, we will:
- Notify you via email or in-App notification within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, if it is
likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms.
- Inform the appropriate authorities, such as the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), as
required by law.
- Take immediate steps to mitigate the breach and prevent further unauthorized access.
10. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age, in compliance with global standards like the
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children
under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please
contact us at support@dkatia.com, and we will promptly delete such data.
For users aged 13 to 18, we recommend obtaining parental consent before using the App, particularly for
features involving user-generated content or community interactions.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and stored in locations outside India, such as cloud servers hosted by our
Service Providers in regions like the United States or the European Union. We ensure that such transfers
comply with applicable data protection laws, including:
- Using standard contractual clauses approved by the Indian government or the European Commission.
- Partnering with Service Providers certified under frameworks like the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (if
applicable).

responsible for the practices of third-party services, but we ensure they are contractually obligated to
handle your data securely.
13. User-Generated Content and Community Features
The App allows you to create and share content, such as audio recordings, study notes, assignments, syllabus
uploads, and community posts. This content may be visible to other users as part of the App’s community
features. Please be mindful of the information you share, as it may include Personal Data (e.g., your voice,
images).
We moderate user-generated content to ensure compliance with our EULA, using both automated tools (e.g.,
keyword-based filtering) and manual review. If content violates our zero-tolerance policy on objectionable
content or abusive behavior, it will be removed, and your Account may be suspended or terminated.
14. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The App does not use traditional cookies but may employ similar technologies, such as:
- Device Identifiers: To uniquely identify your Device for analytics and security
purposes.
- Analytics SDKs: To collect Usage Data, such as how often you use certain features.
- Push Notification Tokens: To send notifications, which you can disable in your Device
settings.
You can manage these technologies by adjusting your Device settings, such as disabling analytics or limiting
ad tracking. We do not use your data for targeted advertising or sell it to third parties for advertising
purposes.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or App features.
Updates will be posted on this page, and the "Last Updated" date will be revised. For significant changes,
we will notify you via email or in-App notifications at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We comply with Indian data protection laws, including the Information Technology (Reasonable Security
Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal
Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). We also adhere to international standards where applicable, such as
the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Union.
